The ICEMD Innovation Summit 2024 marks the future of digital transformation and business innovation
The Innovation Institute of ESIC University (ICEMD), has held its annual event with innovation, the Innovation Summit 2024an essential day for leaders and professionals interested in the keys to digital and organizational transformation. Under the motto «Agile and Innovative Organizations«, the event brought together top-level experts and leading companies who shared their strategies and success stories.
In this edition, five key pieces were explored to activate the innovative potential in organizations: innovation applied to businessthe alignment with culture, values and purposethe leadership influencethe agility and adaptation in the organizationand the superior customer experience. Inspiring presentations and interactive panels developed these themes, offering attendees practical insight into how to address current challenges.
After a brief welcome and introduction to the event by Eduardo Gómez Martínpresident of ESIC University, the presentation of Valentin HernandezPR & Brand Manager at Ilia Topuria, who highlighted that, “innovation, which was previously primarily an opportunity, is now an obligation. We live in moments where everyone, brands and customers, find ourselves in a continuous change, not only technologically but also in customs and mentality. “How we face this new environment will not only define our future success, but in many cases, our business survival.”
The second intervention of the day was by Ana UruñuelaDirector of Innovation at ILUNION, who stressed that “in the framework of organizations, economic and social profitability are compatible.” In your case, promoting a culture of innovation in an inclusive and diverse organization like ILUNION “involves working so that innovation is understood and interrelated between the different business units.
For its part, Antonio MonjeCX & Innovation Culture Expert at ING Spain and Portugal, added that, in his opinion, “promoting the culture of innovation involves scaling competencies and skills to make a difference. “In big initiatives, and also in the small things of everyday life.” To do this, according to Monje, “deconstructing the innovation process is key. Some colleagues need parts of that process to apply it to the initiatives they are working on. “Innovation must be flexible so that each employee applies the tools they need at all times.” AND Belen GranaCIO of ESIC University, concluded that “culture, values and purpose not only guide companies in their growth and transformation, but are also key to aligning strategy and objectives with the most valuable resource that organizations have, the people.”
The role of leaders is fundamental for the advancement of companies. Ignacio RiveraExecutive President at Corporación Hijos de Rivera SL, interviewed by Salvador MedinaCEO of Valhalla, shared his vision on the influence of leadership and the importance of a purposeful project, highlighting that the positive impact is a sum of small decisions, and the activity of a company must be promoted by guiding all teams to that its impact on the environment is positive.
The next topic addressed at the Innovation Summit 2024 was speed and efficiency in day-to-day life, in a round table moderated by Cristian Ull, Co-Founder at Area 101. Ull opened the debate by highlighting that “large organizations are picking up speed in their adaptation to new contexts. To do this, we see how to promote new values and behaviors in their teams, design efficient and agile processes towards decision-making and use technology as a means and not as an end, are some of the key levers.

That is why we like to hire what we call ‘builders’ and who observe customer experiences that are susceptible to improvement, and then discover how to reinvent them. Starting from this opportunity to delight our clients, we iterate the idea with colleagues who discuss it from different perspectives, but always based on our leadership principles, which are what guide us to be consistent in our mission of being the company of the world. more customer-focused.
The last round table, moderated by José María Viscontidirector of the Master of Digital Marketing at ESIC University, focused on superior customer experience, and in which they participated Ana Rosa VictoriaInnovation Manager of La Liga, Carolina Garciaglobal director of new business and innovation at Ingka-IKEA who commented that “at IKEA, we are more than 170,000 committed innovators, and through direct contact with our customers, we work every day to transform and improve life in their homes.” Jorge UleciaDigital Innovation Manager at Iberostar, and Carlos RojasX.Lab Lead partner at EY, also participated in the debate.
In an environment where organizations are forced to continually rethink their strategies to stay competitive, this event provided a clear roadmap for those companies looking to stay ahead.
The event was also the launching pad for the new report Innovation Series: Agile and Innovative Organizationsavailable for the first time to attendees. This document offers a deep reflection on the key strategies that drive innovation and agility in the most advanced companies.
