WPP and Google forge alliance that promises to redefine marketing in the age of AI
WPP y Google write a new chapter in their collaboration, announcing the extension of their alliance for another five years. This is a joint venture that seeks promote cloud technology and AI, as well as how to cultivate the essential skills to transform today’s marketing. The renewal of this collaboration will allow brands to create hyper-relevant campaigns in a matter of daysinstead of months, amplifying proven results across the entire integrated marketing journey.
As the advertising holding company points out in a statement, the expansion of the collaboration includes a $400 million spending commitment by WPP on Google technologies, and was consolidated in Mountain View during a meeting between the CEO of WPP, Cindy Rose, the CEO of Google Cloud, Thomas Kuriaan, along with members of their respective management teams. The spend will go towards WPP’s market-leading efforts to incorporate AI into its services, along with increasing the company’s investment in AI and technology through WPP Open, WPP’s AI platform for marketing.
The collaboration between WPP and Google aims revolutionize the way brands approach creativity, integrated production, media, experience and commerce, enabling real-time personalization for millions of customers simultaneously and going beyond traditional efficiency initiatives to drive growth.

New opportunities for WPP clients
The partnership presents new solutions for the advertising holding company’s clients, transforming the way they connect with audiences and achieve their business objectives. Key initiatives include:
- Transform WPP clients’ businesses with new custom AI solutions built with Gemini. Brands will be able to address specific challenges with personalized AI, combining Google’s advanced AI with WPP’s creative and innovation expertise. For example, «The Generative Store» of Akqa redefines personalized retail by dynamically adapting product images and messaging to each consumer, leveraging Vertex AI from Google Cloud.
- Rapid and customized development of AI models. Google Cloud AI products, powered by Google DeepMind models, now power WPP Media’s AI data solution, Open Intelligence. Enabling WPP Media to create and deploy personalized audience models to clients with unprecedented speed and accuracy, providing immediate and measurable impact.
- Secure, privacy-focused data collaboration. By using InfoSum Bunkers on Google Marketplace, built into WPP Open, WPP can ensure secure data collaboration without moving data. Offering more detailed information for AI-based marketing, while protecting privacy.
- Revolutionizing video and image production. WPP will have early access to Google’s latest AI models, built into WPP Open, bringing unprecedented creative agility to clients. With these new models, WPP has been able to create new campaign-ready assets for clients in a matter of days, instead of weeks, achieving up to a 70% increase in efficiency and a 2.5x acceleration in asset utilization.
- Preferred access to Google’s cutting-edge AI. Through an expanded research partnership with Google and access to the latest advanced AI models and data, integrated directly into WPP Open, WPP will be able to develop new audiences and activate highly personalized campaigns across all media, including Google advertising platforms.
- Cultivate the next generation of AI talent. WPP’s creative technology apprenticeship program expands, with the addition of Google as a major curriculum partner. Building on more than 50 permanent positions across WPP agencies from 2022, this initiative will train more than 1,000 early-career creative technologists by 2030.
- Transform WPP operations with Google AI to improve customer service. Beyond customer-facing solutions, Google AI is also set to transform WPP’s internal operations, resulting in significantly improved customer service.
