OpenAI does not want Google to take the lead and launches a new AI model: GPT-5.2
Just a few days ago OpenAI decreed the red code within the company due to the threat posed by Google and its Gemini 3 model for the crown jewel of the company led by Sam Altman: ChatGPT.
At OpenAI they fear that the “superpowers” housed in the bowels of Gemini 3 (which would easily surpass ChatGPT in key performance indicators) could end up overshadowing the famous AI chatbot and therefore They have rushed to launch a new AI model (the same one that powers their flagship product).
This new model responds to the name of GPT-5.2 and he prides himself on being better than his predecessor at programming softwarefinding information, generating spreadsheets, creating graphical interfaces and executing tasks that require following multiple steps.
GPT-5.2, which is now available on ChatGPT, is, according to OpenAI, particularly suitable for use in professional environments. The American startup ensures that GPT-5.2 exceeds or equals the best real-life professionals from different fields of activity in 70.9% of comparisons (those with the greatest impact on the GDP of the United States). This proportion was reduced, however, to just 38.8% in the previous model.
The new OpenAI model is now available on ChatGPT for paying users
OpenAI’s new AI model, which is less prone to hallucinations than its predecessor, has arrived at ChatGPT in three different variants: Instant (whose specialty is clear and immediate answers), Thinking (taking additional time to reason answers and undertake more complex tasks) yPro (which is the most intelligent and reliable model and is, therefore, the most suitable for tasks with an extra level of difficulty).
GPT-5.2 is currently only and exclusively available in paid plans and, consequently, for now only those who subscribe to ChatGPT Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise will be able to benefit from this model. It should also be noted that the predecessor of this model, GPT-5.1, will continue to be available for three months, and once this transition period has expired, it will be definitively replaced by GPT-5.2.
OpenAI, which with ChatGPT led to the emergence of generative AI approximately three years ago, fears that Google will end up taking the crown from it in a field of activity in which Sam Altman’s company has always had the reputation of a pioneer. Google’s latest AI model, Gemini 3, has, after all, been showered with praise by experts.
ChatGPT has more than 800 million weekly users, while Gemini has more than 650 million monthly users.
Even though ChatGPT is still ahead of Gemini, Some analysts and observers believe that Google has more chances to succeed in the long term in the area of AI because its products have been firmly embedded for years in the daily lives of millions of users around the world.
