Threads goes like a shot: the rival of X sums more than 400 million monthly users
Threads attracted millions of users worldwide when he left the shell approximately two years ago, but immediately after his growth began to wilta circumstance that caused the most agoreras voices to anticipate a rather bleak future for a social network that Meta launched as an alternative to X (the once -known microblogging network known as Twitter).
However, and despite the doubts that initially planned about their future, Threads continues to hit the stretch and has already exceeded the border of the 400 million active monthly users. This figure is 50 million above the numbers shuffled by the Meta subsidiary only a few months ago and it exceeds the 175 million monthly users that Threads had only one year ago.
Originally launched in July 2023, Threads achieved 100 million users in just a few days and quickly positioned itself as the strongest alternative to Xthat since its acquisition in October 2022 by Elon Musk is in low hours and has not reached at any time its old splendor.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, was responsible for making it clear from the first moment that he had great hopes deposited in Threads And he ventured that his ambition that this social network at some time reached the 1,000 million users (a figure that seems still distant, but perhaps not quite impossible).
According to Similarweb, Threads had 115.1 million active daily users on mobile devices in June 2025a fact that constitutes a 128% growth with respect to last year’s figures. For its part, X had on that same date 132 million users on mobile devices, 15% less than a year ago.
Threads has managed to capitalize on the loss of bellows of X since the social network was acquired by Elon Musk
In the United States, the homeland of both platforms, Threads has 15.3 million daily active users in mobile devices, while X reaches a figure of 22.9 million active daily users.
It should be noted that X does not publicly share official figures related to the size of your user community.
On the web the distances between Threads and X are ostensibly widened to the detriment of the social network. In June X attracted 145.9 million daily visits on the web, while Threads had to settle for just 6.9 million (being exceeded even in this channel by Bluesky).
Even though it was clearly born with the mood of putting sticks on the wheels to X, goal insists that Threads is not in a clone of Elon Musk’s social network. 63% of the posts that break through Threads take anchors only and exclusively in the text and users who use this social network daily follow less than half of the accounts that also follow on Instagram.
These data highlight that Threads is promoting the forge of totally new communities focused on specific issues such as literature, basketball or music that are addressed from a friendlier and less combative prism than other 2.0 platforms (x in particular).
To the growing popularity of X is also contributing to the addition of new functionalities such as the “trending topics”, the live results of sports competitions or an API especially focused on developers for the automation of publications.
