The Creatives’ Map: The map that helps you find the favorite bars of advertising creatives


You work in advertising and you have many ideas, but you can’t read them. Now there is a way to get a creative director to open your portfolio, but in a very different way: it is not through an email. Can you imagine being able to find it while drinking a beer in your usual bar? That’s what it is about The Creatives’ Mapa project devised by Francesco Barone y Victor Le Borgnetwo advertising students from the Miami Ad School Madrid.

What began as an anecdote on a terrace between two friends looking for their first job opportunity has become the First collaborative map of bars frequented by advertising creatives worldwide.

An idea that was born in a bar

“The only moment when creatives have a little free time is when they have a beer,” Through this observation the creative project was born. How did it arise? One night on the terrace of a known bar of the creators and emerged as an anecdote. Instead of waiting for the response to endless emails, they decided go directly to the origin of the game: the bar.

As usual, advertising agencies have their favorite bars, where they usually have coffee or beer. Therefore, the duo thought it would be a good idea and a great opportunity to take advantage of these spaces, not to invade their privacy, but to Meet people, exchange ideas and, if it arises, get a job.

The Creatives’ Map: A map open to the public

The result is The Creatives’ Map, A public and participatory Google that allows to locate bars by city, agency and countrywhere it is more likely to cross with creative profiles than to look for them traditionally on LinkedIn.

Anyone can Add your own bars through a formespecially if you know places frequented by creatives, thus contributing to fill the map.

Since its launch, contributions have already arrived since Germany, Colombia, Peru, Netherlands and Ecuador. The objective: make entry to the advertising sector more accessible for creative young people and promote real networking and mentoring meetings.

Even in the web page There is a tutorial available for those who do not know how the map works. It is a project that uses Google Maps and is accessible to everyone. In addition, it is based on an idea as simple as entertaining: Connect people in informal environments.
