OpenAI recruits its first CMO to boost its marketing strategy
The overwhelming popularity of OpenAI had until now been built fundamentally organically, but ChatGPT’s parent company wants to professionalize its marketing and advertising strategies and To do this, it has recruited what will be the first chief marketing officer (CMO) within the company.
Kate Rouch has been the person chosen by OpenAI to lead its marketing departmentas reported AdAge. Rouch, who until now had served as Coinbase’s marketing director, will join OpenAI as CMO on December 10.
In his new position, Rouch will develop marketing strategies focused on the different OpenAI products. (including the famous ChatGPT) and aimed at both the general public and clients affiliated with the corporate universe.
Rouch will also provide support to OpenAI in its mission to develop an AI as powerful as the one lurking in the minds of flesh and blood human beings and also known as AI. artificial general intelligence (AGI).
As CMO of OpenAI, Rouch will report directly to Brad Lightcap, the company’s chief operating officer.and will help expand the company’s marketing division led by Sam Altman by attracting talent with a focus on brand marketing and market research.
OpenAI had until now renounced the launch of marketing and advertising campaigns
Rouch’s recruitment comes to light shortly after Sarah Friar, CFO of OpeaAI, admitted in statements to Financial Times what The company was open to exploring alternative sources of income to subscriptions and did not rule out integrating ads into its products in the future.
OpenAI’s popularity skyrocketed in late 2022 with the release of ChatGPT. Until now the company had refrained from launching marketing and advertising campaignseven though rivals such as Google and Perplexity have already turned to television (oversea at least) to spur the popularity of their AI products. With the incorporation of Rouch OpenAI, until now silent in the marketing and advertising arena, it will go on the offensive and presumably launch promotional campaigns for its products.
Before joining Coinbase professionally in 2021 as the cryptocurrency company’s first CMO, Rouch was linked to Meta for 11 yearsmost recently as global head of brand & product marketing for Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Facebook.
A highly commented and praised spot issued by the brand in the 2022 Super Bowl was involved in Coinbase Rouch in which only and exclusively a QR code appeared bouncing on the screen.
