YouTube has a new cheap subscription without ads: Premium Lite

The competition in the streaming video market is becoming every more fierce and stealing the attention of a spectator who has an entire supplier of offers at his disposal is going into an almost impossible mission. YouTube has confirmed that it is effectively experiencing with this new type of subscription in several different markets and that its objective is to expand the offer in the future. «As part of our commitment to offer our users more options and flexibility, we have been testing a new Premium YouTube offer with most of the videos without advertisements in several of our markets. We hope to expand this offer to even more users in the future with the support of our partners, ”explains a spokesman for the Google subsidiary.

At the end of 2024 YouTube raised the price of premium subscription in Spain by 44%which unleashed the anger of a good number of users. This factor attached to the growing offer that currently exists in the saturated streaming market would have led YouTube to entertain its subscribers with a more economical subscription (to prevent them from ending up eventually migrating to alternative platforms such as Spotify).
