Why Trump and his minions are flooding social media with kitten and duckling memes

The images of kittens and ducklings, which so dazzle some on the Internet (whose official mascot is, not in vain, the kittens), exude tenderness and, when Internet users look at them, they cannot help but repress a silly smile that momentarily sets aside their concern for the many ills that plague the world today. However, In recent hours, memes of ducks and kittens have been circulating on social media that are anything but endearing and are, in fact, carriers of aberrant racist messages. These two cute little animals have become the protagonists of hundreds of memes spread across the web by Donald Trump and his followers.

But why has the Republican Party decided to rely on images of kittens and ducklings (usually generated by AI) to campaign on social media? The answer to this question lies in some controversial statements made by JD VanceTrump’s number two, who He recently stated that Illegal immigrants from Haiti were stealing (and then devouring) pets in the city of Springfield, Ohio.

The authorities of this town have been quick to deny that incidents of this type are taking place in their domains.but that has not stopped Trump and Vance’s cronies from continuing to spread the hoax on social media with the invaluable help of “memes” of kittens and ducklings.

Cats and ducks become accomplices of the racist lies of the Republican Party

Donald Trump actually brought up this “fake” news during the television debate he had last night with Kamala Harris.who would have won the duel, according to experts and polls. However, David Muir, the moderator of the debate, which was broadcast on ABC, rebutted Trump and said it was a lie that Haitian immigrants were stealing pets in Springfield. And Harris herself could not help laughing at the implausibility of the theory put forward by Trump.

However, on the Internet, lies have potentially very long legs. And The conspiracy theory started by JD Vance continues to spread on social media with the complicity of Trump’s cronies.

The fact that kittens and kittens have become a kind of symbol for Republicans on the Internet was helped by the fact that Republican Senator Ted Cruz decided to give credence to Vance’s theory by posting on X (formerly Twitter) a photo of two cats with the following caption: “Please vote for Trump so that Haitian immigrants don’t eat us.”

And also the billionaire Elon Musk shared on X an image of a cat and a duck accompanied by the phrase “Save them.”

Vance also weighed in on X with these statements: «Over the past few weeks my office has received many complaints from real Springfield citizens complaining that their neighbors’ pets have been kidnapped by Haitian immigrants. However, it is of course possible that all these rumours turn out to be false.

Since then, several Republican politicians have posted AI-generated images of ducklings and kittens on social media. And Donald Trump himself has also joined this trend on his own social network: Truth Social. In one of the images shared by Trump on this platform, the former president appears on a plane surrounded by cats and ducks. And in another image, all the attention is drawn to a cat carrying a firearm and wearing a cap with the slogan MAGA (Make America Great Again).

The Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace He also posted an image on X showing Trump with a cat under his arm and a duck next to him.

Immigration is playing a central role in the US presidential election campaign. As vice president of the United States for the past four years, Kamala Harris has been directly responsible for this issue. And her opponent Donald Trump has repeatedly accused her in recent weeks of failing miserably with her immigration policies.
