TikTok Features Are Deliberately Addictive in Nature, Attorneys General Say

The lawsuits filed yesterday against TikTok cite internal company documents that support that the social network was deliberately equipped with addictive features. to “exploit for their own benefit the not yet fully developed psychological and neurological controls of children and trap the youngest in cycles of use of social networks that are both excessive and unhealthy.”

The lawsuits also specify that TikTok often boasts in a completely fallacious manner about being a safe platform for the youngest. and which, therefore, misrepresents the real effectiveness of its functions focused on security.

“TikTok claims that its platform is safe for people, but that is far from true”emphasizes Letitia James, Attorney General of New York. “In New York state and across the country, young people have died or been seriously injured doing TikTok challenges, and many other children and teens are suffering from sadness, anxiety, and depression as a result of TikTok’s clearly addictive features,” duck.
